Any sail boat regardless of size is a potential world cruiser, but a power boat is nothing more than a big expense at the next fuel dock

Would have seen you off but I thought you would throw the dock lines about daylight. Have a safe fun trip.

GREEN WITH ENVY!  Have a great trip, and keep the tiller pilot at work, while you sit back and enjoy the scene passing by.  Vacation time!  A tiller pilot is not much on conversation, but frees up time for whatever you are in the mood to do.

Tough wind there, but you have more than 250 NM behind you, Charlie!  Always feels good to put a state line behind, too.  West wind should be in place soon, and get you scooting along much better!  Hoist some sail and have fun!

Over 50 miles a day, Charlie, seems like you're making good progress despite the unfavorable winds. Glad to hear that the wind has moderated from what it had been. Hope that they'll improve more for you.
Fair-er winds! :)

Great to see you and Tehani back out there.  :)
As Frank wrote...photos, if you can!

I was looking at the radar, and rain was moving NE, thought you may have had SW winds for a bit.  Sure hope the wind does shift in your favor!

CharlieJ

That system up by Dallas is for sure what's causing these winds. Had gusts of 18 today. Still solid SE. Should move off next day or so. Forecast here ( Mermentau River, Louisiana is for 5-15 next few. Was really cloudy earlier. Now? Lots of stars

Posting update and photos (from Sat May 9, evening) for CJ...

- Leaving Matagorda Bay. 20 miles of water back there
- Entering one of the river locks. Colorado and Brazos the same
- Tehani tied up third night Stingaree marina. Bolivar Peninsula. Got in at 2230!!  Yuck
- One reason we seldom run at night. Had 13 pass me in one 4 hour period. They run 24-7

More later.

Currently anchored about 110 miles west of Miss R. Should cross Tuesday

Jim_ME

Posting update and photos (from Sun May 10, morning) for CJ...

- Ahead
- Along side sort of a jungle
- And behind

As you can see. Many miles of many miles grin

Posting for CJ (from Mon May 11, late morning)...

Looks like i'm here for at least one day. That poop that hammered Dallas last night is aiming this way. And my next two nights would be open anchorages instead of a nice protected dock. Discretion says stay put. Means I'll miss the first event. But that was an extra anyway. That's a barge crossing the entrance in front of the boat. Pretty city park

Thanks for sharing the updates and photos, Charlie. They give a good sense of what is like on the ICW in that region. That does look like a beautiful and welcoming park to tie up at in Houma. :)
