Sold the Voyager 26. Bought a Freedom 21. Cannot remember how to post new photo album. I am down, but not out, (unemployed too long.)

Hey Iceman,

If you've got a new boat, you're on your way UP!

Send pix.

Why the change ???? Just curious. I would think that the Voyager would make a better long distance cruising boat than the Freedom but that's just me.

I have been out of work for a year and a half, something had to go unfortunately.
I probably should have sailed off into infinity and beyond, but we are doing whatever it takes to save the house, until better times get here.
Thanks for asking :)

Pappy Jack

Sorry to hear that. I don't know if it will do any good but I would like to say good luck and to keep the faith. At least I can say that have a job...sort of. Work is way down and so is the pay, to the tune of about half :'(. Well, maybe someday we'll be rolling in money ::) and won't have to worry about such things.

Fair winds and full sails,

Pappy Jack

I'm sympathetic to your plight... and also unemployed for 19 months now. Not good circumstances... and one of the bonuses in picking up the boat I did (more or less free but needs work).
And sailing off into the beyond is only a partial solution... although I am tempted myself.
Hang in there. Do what you have to do and keep your spirits up. Things will turn eventually.

It may be the boat I stay with for the rest of my days, unless I retire to a cruising/liveaboard life.

Kinda up for sale.

Thanks for support. I try not to whine, but who would have thought at 54 years old I would have to be looking for a career change let alone a job, (thats according to the local unemployment experts). I am a licensed journeyman electrician in Vermont, but no one is building anything. I am presently learning how to drive tractor trailer trucks.

Maybe I can truck the F21 some where.  :D

Iceman

Whats really funny, is these same experts said VT would have a shortage of electricians in the next 10 years because the average young adult was going to college and not learning a trade. I guess the experts are flying by the seat of their pants and throwing darts at the wall.  ::)

Christopher

My brother in law is also a journeyman electrician.  He's been out of work for about five months I think.  Same story -- no building no work.  I think for awhile he was doing work out in Oregon working on a wind farm, but that project either got put on hold or finished.  I work as a computer programmer for a health insurance company.  Between the economy, the influx of cheap labor from India and the federal government trying to shut us down, I'm grateful to be employed.

Good that you were able to get another boat to keep your spirits up.

Hang in there, it's bound to get better soon.

I think the experts response to that statement would be "wall!? there's a wall? really, where?"
I'm 59, and thought I was looking towards coasting into retirement... now I'm trying to figure out what I can do besides taking a part time job at Walmart or Starbucks.
