For small rechargeable batteries I recommend Sanyo Eneloop.
I've had excellent results for last 5 years and they are getting even better (the 3rd generation now holds 75% charge for after 5 years)

The Eneloops have an EXCELLENT reputation in photography circles.

I've never used 'em.  May start.  Hard to deny the constant kudos they are given.  They are like the Bebi Owl of rechargeable AA batteries.

I've had good luck with Energizer 2300 mA-hr AA's (and the 2500 mA-hr AA's).  I have a couple of chargers, but use the 15 minute quick charger the most.

I have some sets that get very heavily used and charged often.  I've only thrown I think 2 or 3 away in several years.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain
