Ok,

You know I have said how I dislike Chartplotters.  I have an opportunity to get one... I just need to come up with a fair price.

The 540s comes with a basemap, but has the lower resolution display... it does draw less then the OLED models. so there is that.

I see the 540s has been discontinued by WM.  They say the last price they had on a new one was $479 (with xducer)

I have a friend who has one he is upgrading from.  WHat is a fair price for a used 540s with out the transducer (the transducer will cost $129 to replace.

Please take a swing, any help would be appreciated.  It is a friend so I don't want to rip him off, or pay too much.

THanks,

Marine eletronics are somewhat like buying a new car. Once 'off the lot'...they rapidly depreciate. I know you want to be fair...I feel 1/2 price is more than fair for a used pce....then take off the needed transducer. Just my opinion

SO you are saying that

Was: $599.99
Now: $494.99 /2 = $250?  I was thinking more like $400....

More thinking to do.  THanks Frank, I will return to you the grog you just gave me....

ANY other opinions?

If it was purchased by them but still 'new...in the box' your $400 figure would seem fair.....but if it has been previously installed and used............

I completely agree with Frank, "in the Box" would be worth around $400 depending on your negotiating skills, installed would be worth half price.
