The picture was taken this morning at Green Turtle Cay. The 'blow' was forcast for several days. The VHF calls started about midnight last night. Several attempts to get them off failed and caused damage to the bow rail and port lifelines (ripped them completely off actually). Finally at about 11am with the tide up, she could be pulled free and is being towed into Black Sound for repairs.
Not a good day for the owner and his son. Nice guys...feel sorry for them. It could happen to any of us in the right situation so I'm only posting this as a reminder..
While away, it is easy at times to get 'comfortable'. The days are sleepy...the rum is good.  "all good" as they say here.
This blow was forcast for about 4 days. Lots of warning.
Lesson.......no matter how nice...keep up with forcasts. No matter how calm...set your anchor as if it'll be a blow.
I hope they get back underway soon and it is "all good" again.

Yikes. I can't imagine how much it must suck to be sitting in your boat as it slides up onto land, all the screeching and cracking and pounding... Ugh.

Hate to see that happened, but as bad as it looks, it could have been a whole lot worse, eh? An expensive lesson, that could have been MUCH MORE expensive! :o

Here's hoping that they are all good by Christmas. :)

End of the day saw rock rash to the hull, bow rail ripped off, port forward life lines ripped off, stbd aft rub rail rubbed off, wind generater damaged, gelcoat damage to stern plus minor cosmetics all around. But you are right Capt K...could have been a whole lot worst. Not sure about insurance but its a fairly new boat so I think/hope so.
