OK. Stupid question... are burgees always triangular? Or can they be other shapes? (Adobe Illustrator might come in handy after I finish my #)(U&#$E taxes!)

Not always. For example,  an owners pennant is usually swallowtailed. Yacht club burgees are often rectangular.
