I am tired of this cold weather. I want to go sailing bad. Went down to the boat yesterday and just set on it, just made me want to get underway that much more. oh well it will warm up soon enough I hope.

Any sail boat regardless of size is a potential world cruiser, but a power boat is nothing more than a big expense at the next fuel dock

I'm with you,  except my boat is under a snow covered tarp and, according to a rather depressing project plan/chart, I probably won't quite get her refit  done next Summer. Here's to 2012! :o)

I told my boss yesterday that I am ready to put my boat back in the water (as we were looking at a river covered with ice).

He said "I think you are going to be frustrated for a while".

Cold or not, I'm hoping to sail this weekend.  Finally, a weekend without rain.  Hopefully wind.

What happened to our warm southern winters :-\

Well, we've had some of the best local cross-country skiing I can ever remember here in central Massachusetts--and there's another five to seven inches on the way.

Still, I'd rather be sailing!

Grog for seeing the bright side.  I love cross country skiing, though have not really done that much of it.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain

Aw, don't lash the poor swabbie.
I just broke out my winter coat last week, as it seemed like it was finally getting cold. Then I noticed everything was blooming, and that spring was almost here. So I only wore my coat for one day.
But I think it depends on your perspective. Having transplanted from Mass., Arkansas's winter just seemed like a chilly spring to me. On the other hand, most of the summertime will have me laying wilted in the shade.

I left Arkansas for the warmth of south Texas. They're planting corn down here already.

And by August, the corn that was planted will be popping in the fields in that heat!
Enjoy the warm weather!

I grew up on a farm in Illinois, we didn't plant corn until May.

LOL- get ready for a shock then. By  May there'll be fresh corn at the roadside stands. By the end of June it'll all be harvested and by late July they'll be plowing fields ;D

Amen to that sentiment Brothers. Here in California it's snowing again (at least up in the mountains). My front yard has over 6' on it and the forecast is for another 2' by the weekend. Sigh....

On a bright note, the chill in the air has kept the mud wasps kind of tamped down... otherwise, they'd be busily trying to construct a miniature "tower of babel" down below in my (to-be-signed-for-today) boat.
I firmly believe that once I locate and remove all the little mud castles, this thing is going to come up another inch on the waterline.

I know what you mean. When I cleaned out my Cheoy Lee 31 that had sat on the hard for 2 or 3 years; I removed several buckets full of mud nests. Almost 2 years later; I'm still finding them as I work on the interior.

As far as the cold weather...today is supposed to reach 70 here in Southern Illinois. I will be fiberglassing my water tanks and painting the vee berth. Three more weeks until departure.
