It's a large, active forum, so there are some friendly folks (most of them), and some not. But there are a lot of Ty owners, and I think many would be interested in your project.

Anyway, it's just a thought.

(Actually, I discovered SailFar through a poster at the Cape Dory board. As a CD owner, that forum and this one are my most often-visited sites.)

... Did you use battens, or is that a full frame in there giving the shape?  I really like the fuller design, you could sit up and stretch out... I bet it is like a condo inside.

So, who is the booking agent?  I believe that kind of real estate in your neck of the woods would go for a few hundred a night...   ;D

There are battens (4) that give it its shape. It is only suspended at 4 points from the boom. The material is ShurLast a waterproof but breathable fabric, that is considerably lighter in weight and more packable then Sunbrella also made by Glenn Raven Mills.

Inside is quite roomy and dry, I especially like have the boom and sail on the outside of the tent.

And yes it is nice to be able to have a really cheap room at the San Fransisco waterfront, Monterrey  Bay, Tomales Bay and even Lake Tahoe. I don't even have reserve ahead !!

Todd, I have found a lot of good information over at CDSOA.org since I got the Typhoon and will post something about "Chiquita" when I get a couple of more things done.

The boom tent looks good, Tim.

When I had my Typhoon, my boat designer friend told about a couple that he knew that lived aboard their Typhoon in SC. They told him that it wasn't bad "but a bit cramped when they had guests"  ;D They probably could have used something like you have for guest quarters....

I just saw this similar one (with windows) on an Alberg 30 on EBay...maybe there is also a middle section (that is removed in the photo) that fully encloses the cockpit space? (you might appreciate this, John...)

I may have to make a boom tent for the non-self-draining cockpit of the Corinthian, although I did read about one owner who didn't use one, and must have just bailed out the deep bilge sump under the cockpit when he went out to the boat.
