Not very far into this one yet, but it looks to be 'Marchaj for the masses' with a bit better focus on practical applications. The introductory broad over-view of European sailboat history is (naturally) euro-centric and has one fairly glaring (but irrelevant to the point) error, but generally excellent.

Author is a physicist, so we'll see how well the translations from maths to common language goes.

I've got a copy of this book sitting beside the bed.

Back when I was working for a boating magazine, the publisher sent me a review copy. I duly wrote a review, but confessed that the math was way beyond me.

I don't think Denny did a great job of translating the math into English, but I still found it interesting.

Of course, I managed to graduate from high school and college without ever studying calculus--my bad, not Denny's.

Just my two cents' worth as a(n unemployed) liberal arts type.
