This came up in an odd news search and I don't have any further details, but applying a wee bit of imagination...

QuoteChief Young responded to a parking problem at the Lincolnville Beach boat launch area. A vehicle with an attached and submerged trailer which had been tied to the vehicle?s bumper with a rope was later determined to have been left by occupants casting a sailboat at low tide.

Amgine:

That brings back memories. When I was about 16 (nearly 50 years ago now), a highschool classmate and I brought my catboat to the launch ramp by tying the trailer to the bumper of his car with the anchor rode.

We did remember to untie the trailer, but once the boat was launched, we had a little problem: How to get the trailer back home, since the anchor was on the boat?

Ah youth!
