Little regatta in Maine

Mostly traditional, wooden boats ... so maybe not you're thing, but an event that I imagine most sailfarers would love.

I'm so glad to see that this tradition continues.

When I lived in Maine (1976-1980), there was a delightful tradition called the "Short Ships" regatta out of Rockport that consisted of traditional sailing and pulling boats. I used to "crew" for a friend who had a 14-foot peapod. It was great fun (and I used to have a wonderful T-shirt from the event).

There no longer seems to be a "short ships" event, but this looks like it's essentially the same thing.

I'm not sure what's still going on in Rockport, but there are lots of little events in Maine which rarely have so much as a notation to be found online.  For example, on Memorial Day in Brooklin there's a nice "tiny regatta" that just small boats going around under whatever human based power they've got (sail, oar ... no engines.)  Just a day for fun really.
