Does anyone have experience with the sureseal shaft seal? Suppost to be 100% leak proof, 100% sounds like a big number to me.

Me, too.  What exactly do they mean by 'leak' proof?

You might want to read MaineSail's comments (Compass Marine) on the topic, though not that particular brand.

Scroll down to the section "Why it should drip some."

I don't know, maybe the newer products have overcome this issue, but his remarks make sense to me.

Disclaimer: no experience with the product.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain

There are two differant types of these supposedly dripless box's. One has a seal that looks like any wheel seal and is water cooled, the other has a composit flange that seals against a stainless plate that is also water cooled. I have the old type that is well proven. But I am building a new boat and can't decide which to use. If the new ones really are dripless it sure would be nice to have a completely dry bilge.
