If you should find yourself going to Saint-Martin in the Antilles bring US dollars in cash.  Not all places, but many accept dollars and euros on a 1 to 1 conversion.  As such, your dollars will go further than euros taken out from an ATM.  I hear this is even true of some grocery stores, but haven't gone provisioning here, yet.  Haven't been to the Dutch side, yet, so not sure if the same weird economics apply over there.

Also, supposedly it is cheaper (free?) to cross under the French bridge if you are looking to anchor in the lagoon.  Note that the channel from the French side to the Dutch side of the lagoon is quite narrow.  I haven't sounded the depths in it, though it is clearly marked.
