Tenn Tom

Can anyone recommend a good cruisers guide for the Tenn Tom from Kentucky lake to the Gulf. Also a good chart book.

I am interested in this as well. It's funny you brought this up. I stopped by Bobby's Fish Camp today. I saw the sign as I was driving by. Nobody was around. There is a gas pump on the dock and room for two or three boats on the dock. The current was ripping past. A lot of rain lately.   Wade

Been watching a few youtube videos on the Tenn Tom. Surprisingly there aren't very many.  :(

I've made the trip solo from Kentucky Lake dam to mobile twice in the last 5 years. Once in my Bristol 24 with 8hp Yanmar diesel, and last time in my Cheoy Lee 31 with an old Albin 2D diesel. The last time, the river was almost at flood, and the current was so swift that I could only do 1 1/2 knots by the time I reached the lock at Pickwick. The rest of the way was downstream, and I made up to 95 miles a day in some stretches. It took me from April 13 to May 1st to get to Mobile. That was with a 3 day layover at Demopolis because the lock was closed due to high water. I also took a day off at David lake, just above Mobile, to rest and prepare the boat for the ocean.

For charts, I used the Corps of engineers Tennessee- Tombiggbee Waterway chartbooks. I copied the charts #4-$32 from Kentucky lake dam to Yellow creek on Pickwick, off the internet. I bought the 2 books for "Tennessee River to junction of Black Warrior and tombiggbee rivers", mile 450 to mile 217, (#60062) and "Lower Black Warrior- Tombiggbee Waterway" Mile 217 to mile 0.(#60057)  from http://www.landfallnavigation.com/usarcorofen.html

Be sure and have a dependable motor and plenty of fuel. I also took a 14' long oar to push off when i ran aground. I didn't need it thesecond time, but used it 3 times on the first trip.
I stopped at Bobbys Fish Camp last time good fuel prices and freindly people.
