Thru Hull cockpit drain problems

The cockpit drains are never going to be closed anyway...  What purpose would the valves ever have?
Peace of mind?  Other than the way they Tee'd the sink drain into the cockpit drains, I don't think there was anything inherently wrong with the way Pearson approached the task.  One could argue that it would be much easier to turn a (maintained) valve versus pounding a plug in the area under our cockpits...but fear is a great motivator.

Thought I had posted pics of the drains I made for Tehani, but guess not. So here ya go-

They are above the static water line, are something like 1 5/8 ID and are at least 1/4 inch fiberglass

First pic is the end of the new pipe I made. Laid it up around a PVC electrical corner. Rest  show installed, but not painted.

The original deck drains were bronze pipes just glassed to the hull, with a hose up to a nipple under the deck.No shut offs. NOW they have bronze ball valves, and exit the hull above the water line.

Tehani has ZERO holes in her hull below water line. Even the bilge pump outlet is into the cockpit, right above the port cockpit drain. If that pump runs, I KNOW it

That is the bee's knees, Charlie. 8)  I'll admit, I've lusted Tehani's scuppers and drains.  But as Kurt has recently pointed out in another thread, the Ariel's cockpit sole angles forward plenty.  Great solution!

Do remember- the cockpit sole in Tehani is 3 inches higher than original. There's
a space for an anchor rode under there. I find I don't have a single picture of the completed installation. have to shoot a pic next I go to the boat- probably tomorrow
