Neoprene Flooring

Is anyone out there using a neoprene like product on their cabin floors? I have worked in the contractor industry for some years and one of the wholesale product providers has an interesting floor protection cover that is like neoprene. It's extremely durable and you can throw a bucket of water on it yet it feels almost dry to walk on because it acts like a super-sponge.. Great for plumbers when working in a home but I didn't think it was something I would use in my boat. However, the other day, the wholesaler told me that a lot of boaters buy it and, since she's not a boater, she asked me what they might be using it for. I can only assume it's for flooring? Anyone out there using anything like that?

My concern would be the bacterial soup that would always be cooking down there  ;D

My guess is sound proofing and/or insulation.

@Tim: exactly my concern. Plus it weighs a TON when it gets wet so I have no idea how anyone would get it dry again but I suspect that rorik is on to something.

@rorik: hadn't thought of using it as insulation at all (says the man with no insulation in his boat). I'll keep exploring and report back if I find anything concrete.
