LOL- busy working on two boats. Got the bottom paint on Necessity yesterday, except for under the bunk boards- those get done today and  tomorrow. Trying to get her ready to splash next weekend with her new owner (who's doing the painting)

Working on the refurb of Tehani's outboard. Paint almost finished, and parts in for new water pump, etc. Next up is repair of Tehani's mast, some battle scar erasures on her starboard topsides ( a tangle with an oyster encrusted piling at extremely low tide) some touch up to deck paint and get HER splashed. Not too bad really, considering she was first relaunched some 7 years ago.

Probably be all done and sailing again by mid to end of August.

Pulled all the teak and fiberglass of our deck.  Repaired rot and reglassed.  Going over electrical system, rigging, and engine maintenance.  Hoping to get everything sailable again by winter.  Today it's raining, so it's sewing projects for me.

If we didn't have a Portland Pudgy to sail it would be a sad summer indeed.

My goal is to do as much sailing as I can. There are a lot of things I need to learn and that's only going to come by experience.

I just went on a 23 mile sail yesterday and had a great time. Next weekend I'm planning my first overnight trip if the weather allows.

Each time I go out I try to add one new thing to my skill set.

Happy Sailing,
Pete

Well....

After returning from a wonderful (but too short) 6 month cruise aboard Emerald Tide, I just spent a couple of weeks (too long) in the yard.   ;D. Funny how your perspective on time changes between being on the water, and being on the hard.

Summer?  Hope to do some hiking, drive out to California to watch the Americas Cup, haul out Faith (hope I have the taste of bottom paint out of my mouth by then!).....

.... And get ready for the next adventure!

Maybe Antigua?    ;D

Well, My beloved Anne, myself, and Maye (the dog) sailed from Downeast Maine Sept 10, 2012.  We went as far as Cumberland Island, Georgia this winter, living aboard, sailing, working.  We're anchored in Portland now and just about 2-3 days from home waters.  This was our first time taking the boat outside the state.  We've learned, seen, and enjoyed so much.  Met some of you along the way!  We're going to sail and liveaboard as much as we can until October sets in and we haul for a winter.  We've got some projects we hope to do to make the boat better for sea passages (build a nesting dinghy and windvane) ... If funds allow.  Other than that, maybe replace the standing rigging and some other relatively minor, regular maintenance.  We've been posting about our travels on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/svmimirose

Thanks for the motivation Frank. Lots of boatwork. Carpentry, glasswork, metalwork, and the endless problem solving that goes along with it all. I took up windsurfing earlier this summer and I have fallen in love. Also, working through the USCG licensing process. God help you all if I pass.
