Pepsi America Sail 2006- Beaufort, NC

I plan to sail up to Beaufort for the Pepsi-Sail Tall ships at the end of the month.



Any one else here planning on going?

I will be there. Tartan 34. Figuring to try to find an anchoring spot in Beaufort in a couple days. I am sure there will be a ton of boats there.

Last night in the chat, Mike (Coastal Cruiser) and I were discussing it.  He suggested a couple spots but it would depend on what you draw.

  I have a YC Meeting on Saturday, so I will probably head up there Saturday afternoon, and come back on Sunday.

  Look out for a royal blue Ariel with 'Faith' on her stern.  I will look for 'Wandering Star'.  ;D

We sailed around Beaufort on Friday admiring the ships that were there. Lots of power boats buzzing the water. Then we sailed out to the Atlantic and back in to see a few more sights. I didn't stay long maybe 5 hours or so.
If any of you there on Friday seen a 19 foot yellow and white cat ketch that was us. It was the first real sail for my Belhaven. I was with the designer and some friends. She handled beautiful and seemed to be fairly quick.
I really enjoyed what little time I had there.

Did it look like this one? The rumor has it, on another forum, that this boat was supposed to be a Bolger hull.  ;)

What's wrong with Bolger?  I built a Bolger designed Gypsy.  I love that boat - the lines are, to me, beautiful.

It's not an ocean cruiser by any stretch (14' open dory), but for a fun little day-sailor, it's a great boat.

I heard that the designer, B&B Yacht Designs,

was on board the boat in its maiden voyage when the comment was made.  He has some really neat boats, that are pretty diverse for almost all preferences, needs  and conditions, that are easy for someone to build at home.

ROFL - Yeah- I can just HEAR him snorting!!

I've built three of Graham's boats so far. A dink for us, a Core Sound 17 for a customer in Houston and a Princess 22 for a customer in Oklahoma. And hopefully I'll be starting another 17 on or about August 1st.

By the way, Graham just recently won his class in the Watertribes Everglades Challenge in one of his Core Sound 17s. He knocked over 24 hours off the course record for that class..

Of course, Graham is a bit younger than I am- he's only 61  ;D ;D ;D
