I was just going through old pictures and thought I would share this one.

"Duffy" was many things....a geek before it was cool, a pilot and more interesting to us....an avid boater.

He was definately "KISS" and had systems in place on his little 25ft Albin trawler where by he was self sufficient for extended periods of time.
His knowledge of the nooks and cranny's of the Abacos is legendary!

At one point, he found an uncharted large coral rock (very large) and submitted the lat/long to explorer charts. It is now on there and called...you guessed it "Duffy's Rock"

Had the extreme pleasure to meet him several times in years gone by. This picture was taken about 2007.

Saddly, within a year or so he suffered a stroke and was admitted to veterans hospital where he spent his final days before passing on...

I kept in contact with him and he was always upbeat and full of story's

If anyone else had the pleasure of meeting him....share your encounters.

If anyone knows of another true "old salt"..,,,share their story.

Here's to Duffy....A legend of Abaco cruising

God made small boats for younger boys and older men
