A friend showed me this site:   https://www.ventusky.com/?p=29.7;34.6;4&l=temperature&t=20170416/00

It has the most amazing world wide current and accurate weather maps I've seen anywhere.  It's well worth checking out.  You can scroll any direction  and zoom in or out for great graphic depictions of all kinds of things.  It would be a fantastic thing to have live on a cruising boat at sea, but who can afford satellite on a boat?  Best of all, it appears to be quite accurate.
Unfortunately the forecast only goes out 10 days, but I naturally distrust any prediction beyond that anyway.   I was imagining two long voyages, one from the mouth of the Columbia to Hawaii, the other from Newport RI to the Azores and Europe.   The NP high looks very well situated for the Hawaii trip.  The Atlantic trip is far more complicated.  Few if any of us can manage 300 mile days ;-), so the challenge is extrapolation ;-)  Perfect conditions for rounding the horn West to East early on, but brutal for rounding Aghulas.  Christmas Island to Madagascar looks good, and Fiji to Tahiti looks like "stay and wait for better conditions".

It's all fun and games here at the computer.................
