I love having 2 boats in different places for the seasons but Geepers, the storage costs kill you.
A trailer boat would be best as you can haul it to a much less expensive (read: non marine) RV storage yard and not pay crazy haul out prices as well.
That said, if a larger boat...does anyone know of a reasonably priced haul out and storage facility from Georgia on down?
Thanks

:) Now have two sailboats. I bought my old Necessity back :) She's on a trailer in the yard for road trips,, while Tehani lives in the slip here for short voyages, or gulf crossings

A friend calls Necessity my "boomerang" boat, I've now owned her four times since 1985

Took it as partial payment when I sold my Cross 35 Tri.. Hauled it home and put it in a barn fro a few years, then hauled it down here to the coast, gutted it and started over with a new interior. Added a bridge deck, modified the storage and Vee berth completely.

so while no, I didn't build it, I pretty much totally RE-built it. Also have re done the ice chest- it will now keep a good size block for at least 6 days. Here's a  link to an article I did for Duckworks on that-

Pretty much he same ting I did with Tehani :)

One man's reasonable is another man's ...

Riverside Marina/Heritage Enterprises in Fort Pierce is probably the cheapest DIY boatyard on Florida's east coast. Nothing fancy. Crappy undrinkable Florida well water. No rules. Groceries nearby. Decent marine supplies etc. in town.  Marine Consignment Warehouse nearby. City bus is a mile away and riding is free. Good mechanic on site. Excellent stainless fab guy on site. Good people.

More important perhaps the Fort Pierce inlet is big, wide open. You must time the tide right but it is no trouble otherwise.

I'm paying $370/mnth for Westsail 32 in their yard and lived on her while I was there. Packages at office are no trouble.

Just curious; is $370/mo low, mid or high on the scale for yards in FL?

That's nearly double what I'm paying at the yard I'm in in NC.  They are similar to what you describe except "groceries nearby" and of course no city bus (no city at all) within extended walking distance.  There's a very small town a few miles away.  DIY yard that allows living aboard while you're there, etc.

I know marina slip fees are very regional.  The boatyard fees appear to be so as well.

$370 is a good deal. we pay 15$ a foot per month or $50 per day whatever is less. here on the gulf coast. staying onboard not allowed at any yard i m aware of. haul and launch is $350 round trip for my 27. Quick 3 day bottom  job is around 500 with me doing all work . for storage in florida green cove springs around jacksonville is good but glades boat storage in labelle on the okechobee is super save and inexpensive. last year  like $180 a month for storage

Two years ago, it was the best deal going on the east coast by $50 - 100. South of West Palm it's hard to find yard rent by the month. They rent yard space 2 weeks at a time *and* the price goes up every 2 weeks. No riff raff. Get your $#!+ done and get out.

Down to the Keys there is a reasonable place down by Key Largo but the water is thin. Apollo Beach Marina(?) in Tampa was reasonable but fighting the current around the Keys w/o an engiine was a no-go for me. There's a place near Naples with two names, maybe a man's & a woman's that was reasonable but down a canal.  Green Cove Springs Marina is comparable to Riverside as I recall but a good ways down the  St. Johns River.

Frankeh - We're 2.5 hours N of Georgia by road, but for $50/month you can keep your boat on a trailer in the storage yard here, and that price is hard to beat. :D

$25/month to store the trailer while you are out boating. Boat ramp is less than a mile away.

That truly is reasonable!
I take it the 2.5 hours is towing not boating?
