Geez.....that could be in a Pink Floyd song 😁

What's everyone doing?

I do not cruise in the summer months on the Texas coast so I have stripped the boat down for hurricane season.  It is a good time to do routine maintenance, like rebedding all the stanchion bases and finding and sealing any deck leaks.  Other than that......

I'm in the process of yet another science experiment.
I had a 6 gallon electric water heater so I put it on the boat & have been installing a pressure water system. Being an electric boat I've got a 48 volt battery bank for the electric drive. Most times it just sits doing nothing so I bought a 48 volt, 1000 watt water heater element:)   Running the water heater off the propulsion bank will only draw 20 amps an hour, lot less than 120 volts run thru an inverter. Most times I should only have to run it 1/2 hour a day & just let the solar replenish the bank. I plan to complete the install this upcoming week, kind of excited about that.

Other than bringing the boat down the Penobscot River & across the bay to Belfast during a small craft advisory hitting 5 knots under mainsail alone, haven't done much else.
I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

I took the camper van up to the marina for the weekend and sailed my butt off. It was glorious. Spent a lot of time on Muskegon Lake; went out the channel a couple times into Lake Michigan.

I am:

1) Working on Katies interior so I can move back aboard her, while...
2) Painting varnishing sewing and such the Islander 36 to sell it and...
3) ...doing the same on the A30 as the Islander, while...
4) ...doing the same also on my Hobie Power Skiff to sell it as well, and...
5) when I get done with these I have a little 14' creek boat w/a 15hp motor to fix up for fishing/playing and...
6) an Aqua Finn (Sunfish clone) that I need to register with the state so I can throw it in the water.

Trying to get the 3 "biggest" ones sold and keeping the 3 smallest, lol  ;D

No fool like an old fool
I'm transforming an old Oday Mariner 19 into a mini Trawler to do the canals close to home. I've sailed all over but never on these and they're right here. Go figure...
Have the keel cut out and most of the cabin and cockpit removed. Start building g the new stand up cabin once it's turned over from glassing the keel hole in.
I know... I'm nuts...

What a cool project!  Awfully tempted to do / find something to explore the waters here....  they are just so cold!  I am forever spoiled by warm, clear water!
Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.

I'm just puttering away on my boat, I kiwi gripped the decks, started splicing new lifelines, rebedding some leaking hardware. Tried to go on a cruise for the 4th but it got postponed due to weather so now we're going to try for the last weekend of the month. I might need a new furler which will put a dent in the cruising budget but so it goes.

I kind of feel like an imposter here after selling Scout (I miss that boat..).  We headed back to MN for our summer jobs and cooler weather. For the first time we now have a 34 ft'er that needs NO major work just waiting for us, and the end of that season which we don't speak of, so we can head out. All the best to everyone!

CapnK

Capt T - that was a fast sale! She was sure pretty, and you had lots abling for her...
What is the 34'er, the same boat you had gotten a few years back? I cannot recall details of that one, other than she was nice classicy and teaky lol :)

Sorry for the long absence all. I've been working 60+ hr weeks all summer and haven't had time for much of anything else.

Still have managed to get a lot of good work done on Mona, who has been hauled out all summer. Hope to splash her soon! Gotten plenty of sailing in though - my job is on a daysailing schooner in the harbor here.

One more month of work and then the r & r begins. Hoping to catch up with you all soon.
