Things you DON'T mind finding when cleaning out the bilge:

Pennies.
Dog fur.
An old flyswatter.
Misc small screws.

Things you DO mind finding:

Snakeskin.

I was readying our first boat for the new season one March day when I discovered what appeared to be a bilge of chocolate pudding.
Then the smell touched my olfactory like a sledge hammer.  I looked in the boats log and all the winterizing items had a checkmark except "pump and winterize holding tank".  A ruptured hose was the culprit.  The following fall, the holding tank was #1 on the list.

I'd rather find the odd river rat or even snakeskin, than a bilge full of that "head puddin'"...
