Across the street from the harbor is the local coffee shop.  The Bean.  Let me say the locals love their coffee and will do what it takes to get it.  People did everything they could to get to the Bean today.  Some wore wellies and walked in, some drove through the salty water, others sailed or motored in.  Yep, you read that right.  You see we don't have a moon tide, but we do have wind tides.  In the year that we have lived in Oriental, NC, I've seen the water go up and down over 2 feet.  Today it was high.  The Bean is the local coffee shop and it sits across the street from the town harbor.  It's where boaters go to enjoy coffee and rate other boaters as they approach the docks.  Below is a few ways to get to the Bean when the wind is blowing.  Just be sure to leave before the wind changes, or you'll end up like the last picture.

I loved having Oriental as one of my regular haunts…. Any town where dogs have officially got the right of way in traffic is worth spending time in.
Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.

I've tied to the dock across from the Bean a few times. NEAT spot
