Couple of sites about giant Sunfish, which I have always been meaning to learn a little more about.

Ask Grant Wharrington, he keeps finding new ways to break his 98foot race yachts by running ito them.

I think the last Sydney to Hobart was his sixth major damage impact with one. Worse still, they never even stop to hold a sushi paty as their race chances evaporate.

Alex-

I think cleaning one would be a problem... they're a bit large to bring aboard to fillet... :D

I did mention it was a 98 foot boat...the back 30 or so of it is cockpit. Gaff, tie gaff handle to halyard....

I have actually eaten this fish and it is nothing short of delicious. Better then atlantic salmon or tuna. Makes supurb sashimi and has that really vibrant rainbow corescation happening when fresh.

you'll need a full katana to fillet the bastage with though...your average fillet knife is going to have problems...

1 Mola + 1 Giant Squid + 1 fine-tooth long-armed chainsaw = Sushi Party for you and 500 of your closest friends. ;)  ;D

Alex - I wondered how Mola would taste. I saw on one of the sites that the Japanese commercially harvest them once yearly. I wonder how long it is before they become the target of the worldwide eatery - a fate worse than death, guaranteed near-extinction, it seems any more...  ::)
