Looking to head off to Valparaiso Chile from San Carlos starting in November '07.  I was wondering if anyone on the board has information regarding the route south and what the general thinking is on the trip.  Also, I have to look and see what charts I have (I believe I have near complete charts to Panama and then next to nothing) and am wondering if anyone has some recent charts that they no longer need and would be willing to trade/sell.

My boat is a Westerly Nomad, 22 feet overall.  The trip would most likely be done singlehanded though there is a chance of one other crewmember aboard.  Feel free to ask specific questions if it will help you answer mine or if you are just curious.

Thanks a million in advance for any thought put to this thread.  I really appreciate it.

Hi Laura- you might try reposting your question on this more world wide BB. I think it's run from Australia, but there are sailors on there from all over the world. Some one there might be better able to answer you.

You'll have to register but that's no biggie.

Good luck with your trip and let us know how it goes.

Thanks CharlieJ.

I am registered and will post.  That was a great heads up on another good cruising resource.
