New Neighbor

Saturday, I noticed we had a new neighbor moved in.



Ubiquitous in the Carolinas, I've seen several in our neighborhood but not in two or three years. 

This is the first Red-bellied Woodpecker I've seen right next to our property in the nearly six years we've been in this house.  I cannot explain it, but woodpeckers are among my favorite birds, and so I am excited to see this male making his home here.
