Ever heard of them? Looks like a really neat place.

I heard about them thru a news story, Stone Age tribe kills fishermen.

Seems the people of one island there, the Sentinilese, between 50-400 of them (wiki), are one of the last tribes which are not at all in contact with 'modern civilization'. In fact, when approached by whatever means - boat, helicopter - they shoot arrows until the intruders go away. Which makes me think: They may be Stone Age, but they must also be pretty darned smart. ;)

Anyway, the story intrigued me, so I used Google maps to look around, and really like what I see. Lots of remote areas, there are obviously some cruisers who visit there, and it looks like there might even be some good point breaks for surfing (tho' I wonder if there are some nasty sea critters in those waters, too).

Might have to stick them on "The List", although I hadn't planned on heading up that way before...

More power to those Sentinelese!  I'm not sure having to scrabble every day to survive is a simpler life, but we have gotten so far off track it is tempting to believe.

The scary part is the map on Wikipedia shows an anchorage on the NE coast of that very island!
