Grime

Hi,
Can anyone tell me anything about a Starwind 22'? I had a guy call me today about this one. The picture is a couple of years old and the guy said that he cleaned her up after he purchased her.  The reason he wants to sell her is that the slip fee is too high and with his job doesn't have time to sail. He has title on her and the motor so getting her in my name would be no problem here in Texas.

Thanks

Is that Starwind located at Cedar Mills Marina on Lake Texoma? To be more exact on "O" dock in the middle cove? If so tell the owner Walter said Hi and that I hate that they are selling their boat.

If so Its a pretty nice boat. Needs a little tlc but not much. I haven't sailed on a Starwinds 22 but from what I have heard they are well built.
If its going to happen it'll happen out there

Sorry this one is not up there. It's only a short drive from here.

I looked at your profile and see you are from Port O Conner. You are just down the bay from Charlie & Laura, some of the nicest folks you will ever meet. Old Charlie has forgot more about sailboats than most of us will ever know and what he forgot he passed on to the lovely Laura. I saw their boat Tehani not too long after they started rebuilding her. Its hard to beleive its the boat they have now. Most people would have never started that project and a lot less would have ever finished it. Laura is quite a artist, but doesn't just use canvas she paints on all kinds of things.

Charlie posts here often. Look him up

Thanks Walter- that's enough to make me blush a bit. But everything about Laura is the truth :D

David and Lisa have already been by, a couple of times.

I didn't reply to Walter as I was hoping he would comment on the Starwind as it seems he owns one.

Well tomorrow is the day I check her out. She'll be mind or I'll keep looking. If this one has been like the rest that I have looked at my next step is to go to Galveston and buy that one. Made me screen shots of the ICW from Galveston to Port O'Connor from Googles Maps so I will have my charts to sail home with. I'll have to wait for the weather to break as I'm not current on my IFR.

Take care

David- we're supposed to go to Galveston tomorrow to launch a Cross 34 we're bringing back for repairs. It was badly damaged in hurricane Rita and I suppose I'll be doing a good bit of the repairs. We should be underway Monday, Tuesday and get back here Weds - or LATE Tuesday night if lucky .

Laura printed out the charts from Galveston to here in section I put them into a book in plastic covers so we can just flip chart them.

Hope this one is what you are looking for.

Me stay rational  :D  Well I laid out the money for the Starwind 22 today. She is really nice and need only a little tlc. The main and jib look brand new.

The fellow that I was to buy the trailer from " different person" backed out on the deal. So now I have a sailboat up on Canyon Lake and no trailer. Guess I could liveaboad on Canyon Lake on the hook until I find a trailer. Not going to do a one year contract for 200 dollar a month slip fee on a lake. Maybe I can find someone on Craigslist that will rent me one for a couple of days.  Rational not me for sure.

Charley I'll swing by some time after you get home. Have a safe trip.

Take care all

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain

I built a photo album of Miss Froggy "as we named her". Here is the link to view the album. Miss Froggy

I feel like the guy that lost his sailboat on the jetty rocks. Tomorrow she will be on Craigslist for sale. No trailer and no way to get her here I'll have to sale my dream. At least I can say I did own a sailboat.

David -

Don't give up the ship! Not just yet, at least. Between the members here, and other places like the TSBB, you might soon find someone who can help you get her home! :)

Congrats!!! :)

How deep is the keel ?what type of trailer do you need ?sail ?or can you get away with a power boat trailer?

Hi Sailorflo,
She is a swing keel. I found a picture of the same bottom that I would have. See Attached. A motor boat trailer would work and I could modify the rails. A sailboat trailer would work better.

Thanks for the reply

David- when are you hoping to bring her home? Cause I may be able to help you out, but I'm gonna be on the delivery the next few days. Leaving from here in about an hour. Call me on Weds afternoon if that's not too late.
