Grime I don't own a Starwind but there is one a few slips down from our boat. it belongs to a couple from somewhere out in West Texas and they don't make it to the boat very often. I was afraid they were selling it. The pic you posted looks just like their boat.

It seems like a really nice boat. One problem they did have was the nut came off of the pivot bolt on the rudder. I saw it as the rudder was just about to fall off and removed it and put it in the cockpit.

There is a fellow named Martin on the TSBB that had a Starwind 22 that he did a lot of work on. You might email him if you need any ideas on upgrades etc.

Good luck getting her moved. Your right sailboat trailers are hard to find, I modified a flatbed trailer to fit our Laguna 26.
If its going to happen it'll happen out there

Very nice boat! The hull looks a whole lot like my Chrysler 22, but the deck is different.

Thanks guys for all the comments and help. I picked up a trailer from Charlie yesterday and we plan on moving her here to POC tomorrow.

One more question. Does anyone have any suggestion on how we lower the mast? There will be about 5 or 6 of us, just about my whole family there for the move. So I have plenty of help.

Well we got her home this afternoon to Port O'Connor safe and sound. Now to do some cleaning up as she need a bath big time. Then hopefully next weekend to Port Lavaca to the marina.

When two dumb butts like me and my son in law that have never lowered a mast before doing so was an adventure. Now if I can remember how everything went to get her back together. lol

Now the learn begins. We did take pictures of all this blind leading the blind.

Glad you made it ok. Have you talked to the harbormaster about a slip? If not, best do so.

Hi Charlie J

Thanks we were worried with my son in law driving. Always drives like there is no tomorrow.

I call and left a message and also emailed the harbor master last week. I'll try to catch him tomorrow when I run into PL.  The slips here are not reasonably priced at all. $300.00 with nothing extra.

His name is Jim O'Neal. Go early- he's only there at Nautical Landings  in the mornings- goes to other harbors in the afternoons.

Talked to Mr. O'Neal this morning.  :( No slip until the new section is finished. Seems that he has a Starwind 27 and would love to have another Starwind in the marina. Hope this is soon. Any way this will give me more time to do some polishing on her.

That's great, David!  :) And don't bemoan the lack of a slip, use this time to work on her - it's easier to do when they're on the hard, anyway. :)

Excellent that you have a sister ship in the same marina. Make it a point, once you are familiar with your boat to 'get' the basics down, to go sailing with him, and pick up tips and tricks from his longer experience with that type of boat.

Assuming, of course, that he's sailed the boat frequently. ;)

Hi CapnK,
I got some free time today so I started doing some TLC on her. I found all sorts of items that the former owner left behind. I do have some items that need to be fixed before she goes in the water. I would also like to paint the hull. Anyway she will get a good washing this weekend, weather permitting.

Found out about the Texas 200 today. Lisa and I are going to try and go. Might be a good learning experience. If Lisa is unable to go then maybe I can find someone that would like to go and put up with me.  ;D

Take care
