After sailing small boats since I can't remember when- I am betraying my legacy and buying a Valiant 40. I know, talk about expenses and everything else- and I agree with you. I am even keeping my Compac- but for vacationing with my extended family I have bowed to pressure and will purchase the monolith, only to be put in charter during the time that we are not using it.
I throw myself at your mercy and explain that with my extended family growing, we need 7-8 maybe 9 berths and a shower or my daughter and her family won't come. And if they won't come, my wife will stay home with the grandson...( I really think she likes him more than me)
If you don't want to talk to me anymore I will understand... :-[
I'll just stand out here on the edge of the group and try to eavesdrop. ;D

I met the president of that company, he gave a lecture at the islander club meeting this year. He said they took a number of ideas from Islander and put it into their boats.

My belief may be self-serving (<grin>), but I think SailFar is an attitude and not a physical possession.

Well jee, I don't know- if you divide the 40 ft boat by the 7 crew that is only 6 feet of boat per person. I 'd like to see you go out in the ocean with only 6 feet of boat fer you...  :)

Well, the adventure continues... I found the boat, made a few offers, got one accepted and now we are going through the surveyor, then renegotiation and then closing. Are you sure I'm not buying a house? On  the lighter side- it sails like a small boat, only more inertia. And my family is happier on it. :D
