Wow, Is it THAT cold over there? If my widget converter thing is up to those 'weird F degrees'  ;) you guys are talking about, that's just above FREEZING.

Or, about as ****ing cold as here... Interesting.

And, you better listen to your woman! I've noticed over the years that they kinda appreciate that... ::)

20 years living in Montana and now we are digging out our winter gear. Somethings not right. Not suppose to be cold on the Texas coast. If I can talk Lisa into a bigger boat we'll go south until we find a land were there is no words for coat, sweaters, long handles, snow packs in there language.

I hate cold weather. Well at least I'm not riding in -30 with a wind chill of -50 any more.

Well, Connie seems very happy with the Exumas. Maybe we could go further south than that too.  ;D

Although Laura IS taking Spanish lessons :D

Okay guys this winter poop sucks, my boat is all covered up so I can't work on it , but I at least brought the galley to the basement so I can varnish and also my new tiller from Ida Sailor is getting several coats of varnish on it also.  heck this time last year I think I was making handholes and new parts out of brazilian teak.  I have my boat primed but it got too cold to soon to paint.  I HATE WINTER.  As soon as things become finalized here, the big "D" I am moving south.  Marc

Marc,

I know >:(. It sounds like 6"-10" of the stuff up here tomorrow and Tue. Thank God I have a 4x4. I'm supposed to take my 90 year old Mum shopping tomorrow but I think I'll just take her list and do it for her. I to have my boat under tarps but have a frame of PVC tubes forming a work area in the back half. I just hope the snow doesn't collapse the whole thing.

Fair winds and warm weather ;D,

Pappy Jack

P.S. It's 5 degrees F wind chill right now :o.

Pappy Jack

OK guys, when you start to feel the grip of winter around your soul just listen to this,  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2Isfp2w0ks  8). This should work wonders for your spirits :-*.

Warm winds and full sails,

Pappy Jack

Hmm, my forcast for this weekend 65-68 degrees, sunny, northeast winds around 10 knots becoming east in the afternoon. Seas 2 feet or less, moving into 2-4 foot seas and 10-15 knot winds Sat afternoon.

Yup, winter sucks!  ;D

My little town was just on CNN weather along with some other towns in the upper Midwest. Looks like we got 8" of the white stuff :o. I guess it's better than the 10'' (max) that was forcast. Always try to look on the bright side...right ???? Well, back to shoveling >:( :'( >:(.

Warm winds and fair weather,

Hey Pappy Jack, We got pretty lucky down here in DSM.  3"on top of 1/10" of ice so made some roads rather slippery.  But, I must say, we do have one of the best snow removal for the streets and haighways that I'v ever seen.  Buy a snowblower!  I have one.  Marc  P.S.  Iceboating anyone?  I have some ideas.

Pappy Jack

Hi Marc,

Fear not my good friend, I have a snow blower. I wouldn't live here without one, especially at 59 years of age and bad back ;D. I tried iceboating a few years ago on a borrowed boat and it was a blast.

Hear is another video to help pass the winter away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gr1RTuxNgg. Enjoy.

Warm winds,

Pappy Jack

P.S. Hey Nowell, that moaning sound you hear is my envy showing through ;).

Captain Smollett

We have not had ice or real snow (a few flurries is all), but nighttime lows have been lower 20's.  Day highs range from low 40's to 50's.

Today is a heat wave.  It's blowing about 20 kts out there, but 60 degrees.

Interestingly, in November we had temps that were FORTY degrees below normal.

Do you remember Crocodile Dundee in the hold up scene when the thief pulled out a knife...he reached down ..pulled his KNIFE out and said "that's not a knife...THIS is a knife"   These snow pictures, taken 5 minutes ago tell all. "that's not snow...THIS is snow" :o

OK, OK...you have bigger piles than I do ;D by about a foot or two! It's not a contest that I wanted to win anyhow ;). The only good thing, IMHO, is that todays snow is next summer's sailing water.

When I was young I loved the stuff. Now that I'm older and some what wiser ???, I have much less love for it. Now I have to drive in it, shovel(snowblow) it, and work in it, not to mention that I now have S.A.D. :'(. Needless to say I can't wait for Spring or to be sent to a job in the south....sigh. This is why I now sign off with...

Warm winds and far weather,

Pappy Jack

With luck I'll be towing the electra south right after new years.Shorts and a Tshirt are now my favorite wardrobe along with crocs. PS..the video is GREAT
