I know towed generators create drag which can slow a boat down (I've seen numbers like up to 30 pounds) but does anyone have any direct experience on just how much a towed water generator slows a boat down? For example, what was the speed before the generator was deployed, versus after.

I'd imagine that it depends on the specific generator, since some will create far more drag than others. :) Figures I've seen and heard are roughly anywhere from .5-1.5 knots, depending on the boat, the generator, etc. It will probably slow a larger boat less, since a larger boat will generally have more drag to begin with and greater sail area to compensate for the drag. :)
