look on uship.com to get a price and there is EMI marine transport I think they will haul to anywhere in North America and another one called Able marine haulers looks like a good one from there testiminials. I have never used these people only read good things about them on uship.com

Although I've never done it, I did sign up for some quotes to ship a boat from San Francisco, CA to Bellingham, WA. The cost for this was under $4k, not including taxes/insurance/haul out/splash costs. This was to get a comparison for how much it would cost to sail the boat up the west coast. The conclusion was shipping it would be far cheaper than sailing.

For a small boat my guess is that shipping from, say, Brownsville TX to San Diego, CA,  will be dramatically cheaper than going through the Panama Canal. It may be cheaper yet to ship across Mexico. If your boat is trailerable anyway, it might be so inexpensive as to be silly to consider going through the canal.

But the Panama Canal is, for some people, an experience not to be missed; a badge of accomplishment. And you can't put a price on that.

Unfortunately, the Panama Canal authority seems to be getting less and less friendly towards small yachts making the passage across there.

Has anyone checked out going on rail as opposed to truck? Should be cheaper. And has anyone checked into good transport in Mexico as opposed to stateside.
I am thinking of trailering to big Miss and doing the great circle. Anyone else interested?
When I'm sailing I'm free and the earth does not bind me...

Since our boat is only 7,5 m, 2000 kg,flat bottom, it shouldn ´t be that complicated then.

It may be cheaper in the long run to buy a trailer. I just bought one from sailtrailers.com there prices are reasonable, there are no salesman or middlemen. I think they even rent trailers if you need one for a short period of time.

I've thought of this as well it would really be nice if you know you are buying a boat to do alot of work on and you could just have it hauled on you're own trailer to you're house and work on it there.
