Hi all,

A new toy I picked up is a SMALL "AAXA P1 Pico Projector". I got ours from Amazon.com, but they may be available other places. This would NOT be all that good for home use. But for the boat, this is an amazing item. It's a projection TV that uses LEDs for the light source. Read that as VERY LOW power usage. It has a battery in it that runs for quite a while, but not a full length movie.

Now we have a TV that is any size we need aboard our boat! Can you imagine, we have a 60 inch TV aboard our Nor'Sea 27 sail boat! OK, so there are a lot of drawbacks. The sound is NOT very good at all. An external speaker is a must. It is much better the darker it is. If we close up the boat (light wise) we can get a 20 to 30 inch TV very easy. For much bigger we need it very dark. It works on any light colored surface, but for better use I found a car windshield sun shield. The type that has a silvered side (NOT aluminum foil type) and use that as the screen. It folds small and does a very good job.

We normally only watch TV/DVDs after dark any way, so the low light is not a problem for us.

On deck, on a fairly dark night at anchor, we can have a few people over and have a "BIG" screen movie night. WHAT FUN!

They now make a P2, better light output, but more $$$$. This one is working for us.

Standard disclaimer, I am not connected in any way with the product.

Greg,

Looks like a great 'new toy'.  Looks like they can be had for about $200, not too bad.  Thanks for posting it.   :)

No problem! And yes, that's about what I paid for it.
