What kind/brand?

Looking on the american boat marked for a while. but what is a good sea boat for open sea? what do you recomend? Have to be a long keeler, proven ocean crosser, cheap and so on...also. some good boat marked sites please (where to look)
(Yes i'm building a steel sailer, but want something smaller in the mean time!)

Yes. I've looked at those nice boats! But none is that very cheap maybe the "cape dory" is financial "right". what about "Cal 20"???
What boat marked sites do you recommend?

Hey! The Cal 20 is one of those odd little boats that's on a recommended list in a book called "20 small sailboats..." Most of the other boats mentioned in that book are on the Atom list.
I cannot make a personal recommendation for you though. Boats, like shoes, need to fit the individual and intended purpose.

Hi. I though, maybe. That there was some "US made" with a good reputation, books about offshore voyages. boats around 20-30 foot. Like we have here in Sweden.
Havsfidra, Albin Vega, Allegro 27, L28, IF and so on...
The most desireable has to be the PSC "Flicka" pure beuty, but darn expensive.
In Swe we have a marked place called "www.blocket.se" no#1!!!
In USA???

I have looked at English boats of interest: Kingfisher 20, Hurley 18/22, Leisure 20, Corribe 22.

I like the bilge keel boats that can stand on the bottom when the tide goes out.  (I am not sure if that is the correct term).  I look at this site to dream of buying a small boat of about 20 feet and sailing from Holland to the south of France.

It has a hatch cover.  Does it have a self draining cockpit?

Looks like a good cruiser to me.

yes it has a draining cockpit. the downs is: very low freeboard and a small stern.

No!!! Found out at this very moment. A couple of youngsters drowned when sailing this little boat, and it should been an unsinkableboat??? not for open sea >:(

Did the boat sink?  if so, how did the water get in?

It tiped over on the side (low keel 0.95 cm) and it didn't righten it self  again. tragic! it was just right for me price wise, and longkeel and so on... HAve to look for other small better boats!
