Some good counters to "Conventional Wisdom" on East Coast Snowbird Route

I thought Jon Eisberg brought out some excellent sailfar-esque points in his 2004 article on CruisingWorld.com.

Fine Print Caveat: Avoid ANY info on Oregon Inlet that is older than about 1 months these days...money has hampered dredging, in March 2011, the USCG was "threatening" to close the inlet completely and the channel with depth may not pass under the bridge main span.

These days, some of the local fishing fleet only pass through the inlet 'at speed' to stay up on a plane...the depth there is THAT iffy.   :o

I would put Barnaget Inlet in NJ in the same category. The shoals move in days and the CG can't keep up. Even the local towboat guys aren't sure where the deep water is, or even if there is any.
