Hello Sailfar People --
We started our cruise down the Arkansas River on October 9. We launched at Three Forks Harbor near Muskogee and our final destination is Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Right now we are at Applegate Cove Marina,  having covered a distance of about 50 miles in 11 days. We detoured up the Illinois River for a few days to do some trout fishing. We will probably start covering more distance each day now but at first it felt so good to do absolutely nothing :)

Our boat is Caprice, a 26 ft yawl designed by Jim Michalak and built by Chuck Leinweber of Duckworks. We'ge been able to sail much of the trip so far.

I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

It is Major the Sailing WEINER dog. Not Weinberg dog. I'm typing this from my kindle fire so any crazy spelling is excused :)

Hope your trip remains joyful! Let us know when you get near the Little Rock area... vehicle support, plus photography are offered. Weather is cooling here in a few days, but still in the 80's for a little while yet.

It may be the boat I stay with for the rest of my days, unless I retire to a cruising/liveaboard life.

Kinda up for sale.

We are tied up at the fuel dock at Wildcat Marina in Van Buren opposite Fort Smith. The only wildcat I have seen is a very bossy yellow cat that will claw you if you quit petting him. There is a cold front coming in but this place has wifi, free laundry and showers so its a good place to be for the night.

I have created a blog with pictures of our cruise at http://c2cruising.blogspot.com . We took a side trip up the Illinois River and had a good time catching rainbow trout. We have also had good luck catching catfish.
We  are not very skilled at fishing. We just bait the hook,  toss it in, and if a fish hooks itself,  we have fish for dinner. We took a cab to walmart today to get our nonresident fishing licenses for Arkansas.

We have been able to sail about 95 percent of the time. The locks are not as scary as I had feared and the lock attendants have been very helpful. They always come out to chat and make sure we're ok.

More later,
