Winyah Bay can get riled up a bit when the wind opposes the tide. I shot a short video to show y'all what it looks like on the outer parts of the docks when it is like this. My boat is sheltered from the worst of it, although we do get some swell action regardless. Today, for me, CrewDogs, and Katie Marie, it's calm. But, check out the Erickson 28 in the video, and then, if you'd like, see what the CrewDogs have to say about it... :)

The static you'll hear is wind noise - my camera has a bad tendency for that. :)

(Vid) Bouncy, eh?

It's blowing here too....  :P

I hope it settles down some, I plan to head offshore this weekend.
Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.

You would need sippy cups for your morning coffee and evening wine.
Forget the blenders for the mixed drinks.   ;)
Crew dogs looked like they were getting a new hairdo.   ;D
Blowing still in this area too.

Quite the ride that would be!

Have ya tried a bit of thin foam over your microphone?  May cut the wind noise down a bit.

WOW! The bow of the sailboat almost dipped under the water. Its calmed down here Faith, so you may get lucky tommorrow.

Greetings from the Great White North.
Looks like we're not the only ones with the mighty winds. We're supposed to be in for a windy night like that tonight. We get about 10 nights in the winter that are like that. I've been fortunate on not getting sea sick, but there have been some mornings I've had to head to shore to settle head and stomach.
The ice in our bay has pretty much gone, all of it should be gone by the end of the week for sure.
Rowed the Walker Bay across to B dock, playing ice breaker the whole way. The past weekend brought the first nice weather in a while. True to form the tourist boaters - that's live aboard for the boaters that aren't live aboards - started to crawl out of the wood work and clear the ice and fix their tarps.
All sorts of folks asking how early they can get launched while I'm planning on pulling my boat out in another month. Couple of rudder issues to look at and a new coat of bottom coat.

Better try to hit the rack before the bad winds rob me of all sleep.

Cheers

Same boat was getting bounced again yesterday... I sure am glad that my wee vessel isn't that exposed!

("Hurricane gates"? Wimps!!! lol ;D)

This boat came in yesterday evening. I hear they are staying for a month, so maybe I'll get to meet them, go aboard and check her out.... Very neat vessel!

Yeah, but when the hurricane season comes visiting... I'll be happy to be behind it.  :D

Nice wooden schooner... but the brightwork must be a nightmare to maintain.

Gorgeous Schooner.  She looks like she should sell tickets and give tours.  Get the low down of us!  8)
