A beautiful homebuilt scow in Boothbay Harbor

Came across this lovely 24' glass/ply scow and I couldn't help but "barge" on over to bother the owner.

I'm pretty happy with Mona, but I think I would love to own/build a similar style boat someday. The owner adapted the design from Bolger's 28' scow schooner and modified to suit his needs. 3 masted junk rig, with the main on tabernacles and the fore and mizzen spars easily removeable. He utilized construction grade materials and took his time (9 years) to craft a very functional vessel for inland travel. Very cool.

I like the idea of flat bottom boats..if i had unlimited funds i would have chris morejohn build me one of his hogfish maximus designs..great designer and he has a wonderfull website

Checked out his blog and it's full of wacky boat pictures from his time in the islands.

The hogfish looks like a sweet boat indeed. Built for 36k in 12MONTHS! Impressive.
