:D :D :D I think we are typical of many forums, in that we are just in a bit of "SocialMedia"-caused doldrum until we get some 'new wind' in the form of people beginning to hear and *understand* that 'small is simple and good' can be a way to get out there, and who find that it is a better way/format to discuss he ideas and such in a forum, vs those other formats. I am seeing more openness to the idea and discussion of KISS in general in the comments at places like YouTube and FB groups, and try to get people who might be interested to come check us out.

I'm leaving Georgetown this fall, destination South, and maybe some Easting in that. On the A30. Don't intend to return here. Been a good run, but time for some "new". :)

I think I'll be strating a standalone website for boat projects and such, so that I can post the bulk of material there, and then ref/link it here and on Plastic Classic, as a way to save some time/effort. After working on a computer all day for the last 20 years, I look forward to getting shuck of the thing, and most nights the last thing I want to do is type some more, if you know what I mean. ;D But I'm intending to do better here where I really care, have started on that already, though maybe not too noticeably as yet. :)

I bought a new dingy.
Frustrated by all the snow we keep getting up this way.

I like this site compared to some of the other sailing site. Be careful what you wish for...
I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

I agree with CapnK...there does seem to be a freshening of the breeze in small boat cruising the last couple of years. It does seem like the ebb and flow of discussion is splintered into more areas (sites) than ever. I have noticed those across the pond are maybe more involved then we are. Seems the new great sailing boats they have are maybe attracting young sailors with a minimalist vibe....I kinda like the Seascape 24, but watched a vid of a couple enjoying a lengthy cruise on a Seascape 18, which looked cool to me.
I continue to take short trips on my O'day 23 (a boat I have grown to absolutely love) and am working on an O'Day 26 in my shop. I am now 58 and have decided smaller boats are what lay ahead for me...I am always open to charter a bigger boat if some friends get excited and want an adventure...but I simply enjoy the more simple little
ships soooo much more.
I hope you all are well and having some fun! Thank you for being here, I read almost every post.

I've done some wiring and among other things I now have a 1500 watt inverter to charge my Milwaukee tools and grind coffee. I also have diesel tanks in place, tied down, plumbed in and thru hulls installed for the raw water intake. This week the marina is starting my engine that's been in the shed for several months and giving it a once-over. We are starting to talk about scheduling the install. In the meantime here are two completely unrelated blog posts that might bring a smile.

That sounds a whole lot better than the last few messages from your adventure.  Rachel taking good care of you?

Don't rush things, but keep the back moving, so you do not get muscles healed to each other.  I had stitches on my leg do that, took a long time to break them loose.  It does not take much motion to keep them separated.

Just talked to my old fishing buddy, he had similar surgery many years ago, and recovered just fine, but was very careful how much strain he put on his back.  He will be 84 in two weeks, and still climbs trees.  I am 6 days older than he is, but I quit climbing trees 4 or 5 years ago.

We all look forward to you posting regularly on the home computer, and keeping us up to date!

Bet that is a very much welcomed morning wake-up call after a month in hospital

Checking the comfort of the famous couch?

There is no place better than home for recovery, mentally and physically.  I am sure that Robin will have the strength and skill to help you avoid trouble, and keep you supplied with suitable food. There are times when a Marine is good to have around.  See you at chat!

What is the estimated time until you can graduate from the walker?  I drug mine around for a bit after I did not need it, just in case I twisted something as I went over uneven places, but mostly just carried it off the ground.

I have only spent 3 nights in a hospital, and both trips, I checked out a day before I should have.  Hate to be in them, but surgery requires them, so I go.

If you are wise, the bedroom will be downstairs for at least weeks.  Shirley and I have both been through serious leg repair in recent years, and stairs are by far the largest risk in the early recovery.

Yep. 4 inch self inflating air mattress on top. Slept very well

JUST hung up from a call from Robin. After many delays and setbacks, her new boat is in it's home slip as of just a bit ago. Sh'e very happy. Launched yesterday  using the strap launch method, spent the night aboard and ran her home today- no problems

Glad to hear you're back home, CJ.

I am not planning on cruising much this summer, but I do have two kayaks large enough to camp out of. Also have a truck now, so transporting them around for some day/overnight trips in New England ought to prove rewarding.

Also thinking about the lure of the Islands this coming winter. Maybe see you out there Kurt? Frank? Who else? Cruiser2B???

lastgreatgeneration

It was a slow winter off of work. Not much to talk about. I completed the transition from head sink and cabinets to forward hanging locker.
I don't have wifi so I'm stuck posting from the phone with really slow service. I started working at the oil refinery recently, so, the money is rolling in. I will be getting 2 new group 24 batteries this weekend.

There is still so much to work on and purchase. It's never ending really, I'm glad I have a simple boat. Also thinking about getting a haul out to replace the seacocks and raise the waterline (again).

I'm tempted to purchase a new monitor wind vane because I'm having a hard time finding one used in good shape. Also just signed another year lease in Annapolis. There are plans to go cruising around sept 2019.
