So CJ stopped by here the other day, stayed a night on the Islander. It was almost like last time - while I was at choir practice and then the Boy Scouts meeting, he drank all of my rum, had his way with several of the local wenches, got in several bouts of fisticuffs with local fisherman, and only set one building afire this time. Somehow, again, no arrests were made.

By way of warning, I'd been tellin' a couple of the guys at the marina that he'd been here before, back 5 or 6 years ago. Here's the 'time flyin'' part - no, it wasn't 5 or 6 years ago...

It were *8* years ago.  :o 2011, to be exact - i looked it up in the sailFar Gallery:

Here's a shot I took of him heading out way back then, in Sept of '11:

Of course, this time he was in his 'hiway boat', the "Teherokee", which goes 55mph to windward.

We used an old ruse to make the coppers think he was in my car, so that they followed me one way leaving the marina parking lot, and then he left going the other direction after I'd led the po-po out of sight...

Last I saw, he was headed south, so Floridians - guard yer womens and likker, he's coming your way!

Satisfaction is wanting what you already have.

:)  Charlie had a two night stop here, and we swapped war stories, mostly flying related, and went to the big Smithsonian Air and Space museum at Dulles airport.  This was my second visit, and a surprising amount of change has occurred since the first.  The space display in particular has expanded, with an amazing collection of examples of modern satellites, particularly communications and weather monitoring equipment.

Charlie offered to drive, as his Jeep is more comfortable than my GMC truck, but knowing his lack of love for city and high traffic driving, I insisted on driving.  Our return, in rush hour traffic  >:( would have driven him nuts, but was simply normal for me  ;).

I emptied my last bottle of rum in the mid '60s,  :( so he drank coffee here.

Reminisced on cruising the inter coastal waterway, and especially Dale Kidd's cruise this spring.  Charlie would have loved to go with him, but health prohibited that, but I did go, and had a great time.  Charlie was very understandably envious, as  I would have been if I had been laid up as he was, and that opportunity slid by.  The salt marshes of Georgia are a beautiful place for someone who loves the outdoors.

I escorted him to the correct ramp onto I 495, the Beltway about 8 AM, as the heaviest traffic eased off, and he escaped successfully to the south, and Captain Kurts home on the water.

Shirley and I very much enjoyed his company, and hope to see him again when he is much stronger.
