...and all you others in Dorian's path. Bubba, Frank, and everyone else that will be affected.

Stay safe and live to sail another day!

Thanks! Right now it looks like we'll feel it when the bullet goes by, but it won't hit us... ;D

Keeping a close eye on things, prior to deciding if and if so then where to tuck up for a spell. NHC discussion this AM has this area at only a 34% chance of sustained 34kts wind, 13%@50, and 5%@64.
On top of that, with it being S of us, we're on the weak side, and the way the land is here,  mostly protected with little in the way of fetch from the E clocking N around to W.

Strategery: In the image, my marina is the purple dot. If they make us leave ( ::) ), I'll go to one of the orange spots, either right out front of the marina (1), across the river and up a creek (2 & 4), or further up the river but on this side (3).
That spot (3), and the one at the bottom center (4), have big earthen berms 10-20' high right next to the creeks on the S side. All are narrow and just deep enough at low tide.

I am not the most compassionate person in the world, by any stretch, and I'm not big on religion, per se, but -

Those folks in the Bahamas, they are getting hammered, and hammered hard. You can go see short videos on Twitter.

My heart goes out to them. They are very much in a horrible, horrible situation right now. So if, or however, you pray, please put one up for them.
They *really* need it.

agree- horrible- Having spent time on the out islands I can tell you- they will be flooded,, and residents have ZERO place to evacuate to

Happy to NOT be there. Also worrying about my son, grand kids and great grand kids in Jacksonville

This is absolutely terrible...   so hope for miraculous stories of survival...   having ridden out a hurricane in the Abacos I can't imagine a cat 5!  :'(

Heartbroken at the photos I have seen. Will be thinking about all my friends in the path of this one.

Thanks, Woody.
My thoughts too are with all those in danger in the islands.

Any sail boat regardless of size is a potential world cruiser, but a power boat is nothing more than a big expense at the next fuel dock

Getting crazy here, nowhere near as bad as there, what they went thru is literally unimaginable.

That said, I think there is at least a 50% chance I am boatless in the morning come Friday. If it happens, it happens - at least I won't have the "too many boats" problem any more...  :o

If just one makes it, I hope it's Katie.  :)

Fingers crossed. I did all the prep I could, this is looking wayyyy worse than what was forecast.  ???

As CJ says, the "lying weather weasels" strike again.  ::)

I have not been back yet but have been told (via a somewhat drunken local denizen) that my boats are all still there. Wow. I did the best I could but really thought they would get taken. Gusts were @90, sustained at over 60mph for many many hours today, from what I see. Wil know more and for sure, tomorrow.

We didn't get a truckload of wind here. Lost power about 5 am. Will be out a little later to see what's up in the AO. I'm thinking we got sideswiped by the W side of the storm but not too bad.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  -Mark Twain
