Now I need to work out how to do this to my boat.

Oh yeah....I thought my 20hp Yanmar was impressive for a boat our size.....Mount one of these on the transom! Suddenly short course yacht races with upwind finish lines begin to look attractive. And I could honestly tell the protest committee that I never touched the throttle or starter of my Yanmar!

Alex.

The vehicle in the story is not recommended for towing. Unless you have a trailer load of marshmellows.

I recall seeing something like this a while back and remember it was either a hoax or something like it - that is, he might have built it, but I don't think he DRIVES it.

It intakes air at 11,000 cubic feet per minute, yet the intake is INSIDE the car?  Start-up requires 700 AMPS for 20 seconds???

CA highway patrol cannot think of what to charge him with? How about reckless endangerment?  Violation of a noise ordinance of some kind?  Being a Jerk?

No, now I am curious about digging up that other article/discussion that I read.  Dangit, I wish I could remember more details. In any case, here are a few comments from related stories:

The comments that are replies to this one were interesting, too, but since the threads are archived, I cannot figure a way to pull them up easily.

Here's one of those replies: http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?cid=972178&sid=6284

If you put one on your sailboat, watch the fiberglass!!   ;D

The only problem with having one of those on a sailboat is the amount of fuel you'll need. ;)  Might as well get a power boat then...
