Whew. I feel like I glassed an entire boat in one night.
Not all glass work is on a boat, though. ;)
I agreed to help a friend "construct" a custom bath stall for horses at a riding stable. We spent 4 nights earlier this week with prep work, which included re-routing one drain line and installing another. They had had problems with water intrusion into the walls, and we wanted to belt-n-suspenders this thing like crazy.
We did a 13 hour glass work marathon last night (the work has to be done at night while the facility is closed and the horses are turned out). Rolled on a pre-coat, laid/wetted/filled cloth, and two overcoats (so far) all with semi curing between. It was grueling.
The project was 34 linear feet of 8 ft tall walls; a pretty fair bit of glass to lay in one "session."
I liked resin we used (to the degree that I like polyester, anyway). He got US Composites (http://www.uscomposites.com/polyesters.html) Polyester, and though it cured very clear, it had a blueish tint before mixing. After adding hardener, it turned green which helped show when one had good mixing. This was their surf board construction formulation (#249), and we ended up using about 7.5 gallons.
We've got some pictures of the project that I can post later.
