Title: Heads up, if you use Internet Explorer
Post by: CapnK on December 16, 2008, 12:14:56 PM
Apparently there is a serious problem with IE. Basically, the only and best thing you can do is use another browser for now. Mo' details:

If you don't have another browser, you can get one of the following for free:

Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com)

Opera (http://www.opera.com)

Thanks Kurt,

I've been darn lazy, using IE on my home computer (Windows VISTA-don't get me started), even though I replaced Safari with Firefox on my Mac in the office.

I've been out of circulation for a while, a matter of an ice storm (no power for 2 1/2 days--brrrr!).

I'm gonna log off SailFar and finally install Firefox.

Thanks again,

Firefox is definitely the way to go.

Joe-

You were in the Ice zone... :(  I hope yo've got a couple of good sleeping bags...they're really good for when you lose power. ;)

Thanks Dan,

Actually, Lynne and I were comfortable under all the covers. It was the rest of the time that was rough.

I bought a propane-powered catalytic heater at Home Depot and used it to keep the pipes from not freezing.

However, I had to keep a door open whenever I ran the heater (there was a specific number of square feet per BTU that I followed), and the equilibrium temperature inside was 51 degrees (F).

Not fun.

Boat units are going into a generator. (We've got 24 inches on the ground now, but it's supposed to get warm and rainy before Christmas.

Joe-

Just be careful with the propane heaters and generators... rather not find out about you and carbon monoxide poisoning in the paper... :) Consider you a friend and would like to keep you and the missus around. :)  BTW, you want to go to the Maine Boat Builder's show again this spring/??
