Title: 3 Capes of the US west coast. Utube worth taking notes
Post by: Owly055 on June 29, 2018, 12:58:36 PM
This is one of the Emerald Steel Utube videos, where they discuss sailing the west coast in useful detail.  Which places to take shelter, and which to avoid.   Interestingly the Pacific coast of the US has been described by many as some of the most unpredictable and violent weather.   In looking at maps, there is not a lot of shelter, and many seemingly inviting areas have river bars that can be very dangerous.  This is worth watching IMHO, as many of their videos are.  Lots of good advice.

West coast has the "Smallest Harbor in the World"- Depoe Bay, Oregon. Imagine trying to come in thru that entrance when it was snotty and rolly outside... At 42ft Katie's mast sh/would fit under the bridge, but I'd want to wait for a nice calm day to try. :D Losta videos of it on YouTube.
