Hey gang!!!
Haven't posted in a while. Busy with sailing, working, working on sailing....
But I had to share my news. I've been picked, along with 10 other West Marine employee's, to represent West Marine in the Baha Haha, a rally from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas. Actually, I'm on the upwind leg, from Cabo, back to San Diego. Around 800 miles, bashing the entire way. I even requested this leg. Somehow, 8 days of down wind sailing just doesn't give me joy. I'd much rather have to work at making a destination. We've been told to prepare for a trip that may take anywhere from 8 days to 3 weeks. I'm not entirely sure that I look forward to the 3 week version, but, hey, 3 weeks on a sail boat in the Pacific Ocean beats 3 weeks doing almost anything else legal that I can think of.
We'll be sailing aboard West Marine's Santa Cruz 40. The Skipper is checking and upgrading systems as I type. If all goes well with the downwind leg, we should be departing Cabo San Lucas around the 10th of November. West Marine is flying all of us into Cabo, and covering expenses except for our foulies and clothing.
Well, just wanted to spout off for a few....and that accomplished.....

Very Cool!! ;D
Very cool... have fun... get photos... ;)
That's great!
Instead of bashing up the coast, why not head off-shore one or two hundred miles, tack, and lay for San Diego?
Enjoy the trip! Like Dan said, bring back pictures and sea stories!
Bob,
I'm just crew, so whatever the skipper decides. I think that we will be off shore somewhat, but it's an 800 mile trip, so bashing is mandatory...lol.

That's awesome, Larry! :)
Tell 'em you wanna use a smaller boat, though... ;D :D ;D
Today's 'Lectronic Latitudes mentions the West Marine boat and has a pic!

They are still on their way south, so we can't even pretend to see Larry in the pic. :-)
