Title: Gulf Shores / Orange Beach Area
Post by: Greene on January 22, 2012, 01:03:08 PM
Brenda and I have recently become empty nesters and are planning our move to the Gulf.  We have a condo on Orange Beach, but we will be shopping for a marina as a base to prep for a cruise starting in roughly two years.  Any marina suggestions?  Any cruising hints for that area of the Gulf?

We are looking at 24 to 31 foot bluewater boats that have roughly 4 foot drafts which seems to suit the shallower waters of Mobile Bay and the ICW.

Fair Winds,

Mike and Brenda

I stopped at the Bear Point marina near Orange Beach a couple times on my way throught the area. Got some good advise there. Good location, and not too pricey.

and directly NORTH of Bear point, is Pirates Cove, on Roberts Bayou. WELL protected anchorage,, good hamburgers, and $1 foot for transients. Just don't trip on a dog- they own the place :D

And be particularly careful of the Pirates!  I spotted this suspicious looking pair the last time I was there... obviously up to no good.
