Title: Keys trip in a rob Roy 23
Post by: Sonnie on September 30, 2012, 04:43:42 PM
My current boat is a rob Roy 23 on a trailer. Planning on trailer ing her down to the Miami area from Toronto, launching and exploring the keys for a few weeks. Her 1.5' draft should be great for the keys and if weather permits Bimini/ berries.

Wondering if anyone has info on where I should launch and where to leave the trailer/truck while I'm away- wondering if I can just leave parked at the ramp, and if so which ramp to use? Or maybe a marina but can't seem to find one with space that is affordable. Maybe best option is to launch then store the truck/trailer at a land based storage place?

Also anyone know a good fishing shop in Miami area?

Also any info on must see places and any hot fishing spots!!

Many thanks for all the great info guys!

Try "mangrove marina". Nice folks, fair prices. They are just N of Islemerada. The closer you get to Miami....the more $$ storage will cost. Your boat is perfect for the Key's. Have fun !!

I used South Dade Marina two years ago. Excellent jump off spot and you can leave your car there easily. I don't remember what they charged, but it was cheap. It's a sailboat-only marina!
